DARE NETWORK

DARE stands for Democracy and Human Rights Education in Europe
DARE is a European wide network of NGOs and other organizations aiming to raise the profile of Education for Democratic Citizenship (EDC) and Human Rights Education (HRE), improve the quality and transnational cooperation of all stakeholders in the field.

DARE.LOGO.NetzwerkEDC and HRE are core obligations for the formal and non formal education systems throughout Europe. DARE NETWORK works with 27 member states, provides annual platforms for stakeholder conferences between practitioners, policy makers and researchers in the EU Lifelong Learning Communities. DARE is linked to the European Years and focuses on relevant issues in the field of HRE/EDC. DARE ensures that policy recommendations does voice the concern of its members and outcome of its activities e.g. EDC/HRE Action Days promoting the visibility of EDC/HRE activities on European level and showcases the full spectrum of EU activities from grassroots level.

DARE produces its regular newsletters, DARE Blue Lines Series and a DARE Blog, which keeps its members informed about upcoming policy developments and events in EDC/HRE. DARE has had a number of conferences over the years “A Europe of Active Citizens”, in Budapest in Nov 2010, in addition “Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion” in Glasgow in March 2010.

The network provided fundraising strategies for European initiatives in EDC/HRE in Copenhagen in 2009 and methodologies on HRE at International House Sonnenberg, and the list goes on.

Since 2011 DARE runs its activities without any support of EU funding and therefore gained reputation as an independent European network of EDC/HRE providers. DARE widely cooperates with the NECE initiative, the EU FRA, the various bodies of the Council of Europe´s EDC/HRE department.
